Russia is preparing retaliatory measures against the EC because of the black list of airlines

The decision of the European Commission (EC) to blacklist 20 Russian airlines will lead to retaliation.

This was announced by the press service of the Federal Air Transport Agency of Russia, quoted by “Interfax”.

The decision to include many Russian airlines certified by the Federal Air Transport Agency in the so-called “black list” of the European Union testifies to the continuing policy of discrimination and violation of international aviation law, which will inevitably lead to retaliatory measures. country of the aviation authorities of the Russian Federation concerning the airlines of the EU member states “, the statement of the regulator says.

The European Union’s decision will not affect the flight safety of Russian carriers, the Federal Air Transport Agency said.

“The above-mentioned restrictive measures against Russian airlines were taken in absentia and have no grounds related to the technical condition of the fleet of Russian air carriers, maintaining the airworthiness of these aircraft, leasing transactions,” the agency said. “It is noted in the so-called black list to have all the necessary onboard documentation approved by the authorized body in the field of civil aviation of the Russian Federation. All aircraft meet the airworthiness standards and undergo regular maintenance within the deadlines set by the support program. ”

Earlier on Monday, the EC blacklisted 20 Russian airlines. These are Aeroflot, Rossiya, Pobeda, UTair, S7, Aurora, Izhavia, Yakutia, UVT Aero, Smartavia, IrAero, Ural Airlines, ALROSA, Nordstar, Rusline, Yamal, Nordwind, IFly, Rusjet and Aviastar-TU.

These companies are banned from flying to EU countries “because they do not meet international safety standards,” the regulator said in a statement. He explained his concerns by the fact that after the introduction of European sanctions against the Russian Federation, airlines re-register aircraft belonging to foreign lessors in the register of the Russian Federation. Rosaviatsia, for its part, has allowed them to operate “hundreds of foreign aircraft without a valid certificate of airworthiness.”

Russian airlines did not fly to the European Union even before they were blacklisted: after the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, many Western countries closed their airspace to them.
