The Russian media is using all possible means to defend the invasion of Ukraine, described by President Vladimir Putin as a “special military operation.”
The newspaper “Arguments and Facts” quotes the Chinese edition of the Global Times, according to which the United States is counting on a protracted conflict in Ukraine to benefit itself.
The authors of the article point out that Washington is acting in the interests of its arms manufacturers, whose shares are visibly rising. In addition, by manipulating Europe and NATO, the United States hopes to reap “geopolitical dividends,” according to the Global Times.
“All of Washington’s actions come down to prolonging the conflict, and all sorts of mobilizations and efforts are being made to that end,” the Arguments and Facts article said.
The Russian newspaper states that the total amount of US military aid to Ukraine since February 24 is $ 1.7 billion. The Kremlin stressed that the weapons delivered to Kyiv by Western countries will not be able to prevent Moscow from achieving its goals in Ukraine.
“Arguments and Facts” also draws attention to the statement of the Japanese Minister of Finance Shunichi Suzuki that one of the purposes of his participation in the G20 summit at the ministerial level is to lobby the countries that have not adopted sanctions against Russia, to do.
“We want as many countries as possible to participate in the sanctions,” Suzuki was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti. The Japanese finance minister noted that some G20 countries abstained from or opposed UN resolutions against Russia. According to him, it is necessary to use the G20 summit to “do the job”, convincing these countries.
Suzuki did not rule out the possibility of Russia participating in the meeting online. “As for the participation of Russia and China, each of them registers with the Indonesian (rotating) presidency (of the G20). Therefore, the Japanese government cannot comment on the prospects for the participation of one or another country,” he said. quoted by Izvestia newspaper.
“Arguments and facts” also reflect an article by former Czech President Vaclav Klaus on the iDNES portal (iDNES.cz), according to which the current positive attitude of Europeans towards Ukraine may hide “hatred towards Russia”.
Klaus draws attention to the fact that in the past, Ukrainians have not enjoyed sympathy in Europe. “I have always been ashamed to see how the Czechs treat Ukrainian, legal and illegal, migrants who work for us,” Klaus said.
According to him, “now everyone is radiating love for Ukraine and Ukrainians.” Klaus believes that behind this “screen” lies the real attitude towards the Russians.
Russian media are trying to promote the opinion of Adalbi Shagoshev, a member of the State Duma’s Security and Anti-Corruption Committee, who said an invitation to US President Joe Biden to visit Kyiv seemed unreasonable. Volodymyr Zelensky has practically armed the entire population of Ukraine, including thousands of criminals and former prisoners, Schagoshev was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti, citing a risk to Biden’s security.
According to the Russian MP, if Kyiv wants to show the American leader what is happening, he should not be invited to the Ukrainian capital, but “closer to Lugansk and Donetsk.”
“Biden must go to where battles are being fought, where Ukrainian troops are using civilians as human shields. There he will see whether Russia is telling the truth or not,” Shagoshev said.
Izvestia reports that, according to local authorities, nine artillery shellings were carried out by the Ukrainian army against the so-called Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR), injuring two women.
The publication also informs that more than 1,100 medics from Germany want to go to Ukraine and neighboring countries to help the sick and wounded. This was stated to the media by the editorial board of Deutschland Deutschland by the chairman of the association Klaus Reinhart.
A photo correspondent of the newspaper “Komsomolskaya Pravda” tells about the surprise celebration of Palm Sunday, which he found in the besieged by Russian troops Mariupol, amid continuous powerful explosions of artillery shells at an impromptu table in a yard. against the background of destroyed homes and churches, lack of food and water, and fresh graves.
